The Spanish Emperor Charles V (Carlos V) came here to rest and relax for his last years . Where the water turns into wealthness, and its stream molds the landscape forming valleys, going down from the melted snow on the top of the mountain summits. Travelling throughout LA VERA is turning back to the Renaissance: fortresses, castles, palaces and stones where the last of the Caesars, Charles V, left his fingerprint in Yuste's Monastery, the place chosen for the retirement of the Emperor.

On the banks of the Tietar river, the tobacco and the pepper are proudly grown. Paprika, honey, liquors, cherries,... … all products from a special microclimate.

In the summer our wide water streams offer you the possibility of bathing in their crystalline and cold waters.

Almost all the villages have natural swimming pools built among the rocks of their rivers. Water streams are visited by those who look for the freshness of LA VERA in the warm summers.
